LIVE INSTRUCTOR-LED TRAINING
Surgical Procedures and Instruments
When possible, it is helpful to talk with the surgeon prior to the start of a procedure. Understanding the surgical plan will better prepare you for the case. Since most surgeons do not narrate during an operation, it is crucial to know what is happening based on the instrument being used. Knowing this will guide you to institute the correct modalities to the correct neural structure(s) at the appropriate time.
Though each surgeon's preferences and approaches are unique, the basic concepts are uniform. Surgical procedures that will be discussed in this course are:
- Cervical (anterior and posterior approaches)
- Thoracic and thoracolumbar (anterior and posterior approaches)
- Lumbar and lumbosacral spine (anterior and posterior approaches)
- Craniotomies
An awareness of the surgical equipment and instruments will ensure that the correct structures are monitored at the appropriate time. This will further enable efficient setup and early acquisition of data and aide you in making a determination as to what may be the cause of signal changes.
This in-depth session will cover:
- Operating tables
- Positioning devices
- Fixation instruments
- Surgical instruments
