On July 9th and 10th ASNM sponsored a follow-up meeting to the Strategic Healthcare Summit in Chicago called Visions Implementation Meeting.  The meeting was attended by physicians, scientists, professors, technologists, company CEOs and others.  Meeting Chairperson Bernard Cohen, PhD, DABNM, FASNM opened the meeting reminding us in the IOM profession that patient care is first and foremost, the common thread among us.  The agenda established included Intersociety Relations, Research Initiations and Outcomes, Multidisciplinary Membership, Defracturization of Service Delivery Patterns, Qualified Health Care Providers, Training of Future qualified Practitioners, and Changes in Health Care Financing.

At the conclusion six teams were established to carry out specific actions items.  The teams are Value Proposition, Education, Unification, Qualified Professionals, Inter-society Relations and Research Outcomes.  Our charter is to develop and build qualification guidelines for the technical provider and the professional provider, develop an education curriculum to achieve the qualifications, develop outcome studies to justify neuromonitoring while working in unison with other societies that are involved with neuromonitoring on some level.

We look forward to hearing from others.
